Already your favourite tree?

The Chicozapote tree produces small, very sweet fruit which is popular among kids, who brave their way up the branches just to pick them. By planting one, you will gift delicious and fun snacks to Guatemalan kids!

The history of "Manilkara zapota", for his friends, Chicozapote.

Originally from the Atlantic forests of Nicaragua as well as from Gran Peten, which extends over part of Yucatan, Belize and Guatemala.
The name chicozapote comes from the Nahuatl language and means “honey zapote,” hinting to its taste, which is sweeter than other fruits in the Sapotaceae family. Traditionally the plant’s latex is used as the basic highly valuable ingredient of chewing gum (chicle).
