Hi, I’m Orange Tree:
Its flowers have been a symbol of marriage and love ever since, according to Greek mythology, Gea ‒ Goddess of the earth ‒ gifted an orange tree to Zeus and Hera on their wedding.
The Orange Tree is an ancient hybrid created more than 4,000 years ago crossing a pomelo and a mandarin.
From the south of China, through the Silk Road, the orange tree has spread throughout the East; then thanks to the Arabs in Europe and from Europe it reached the Americas.
What we plant in Guatemala is not the orange tree we all know: it is very sour and mostly used in the preparation of local dishes.
Citrus × aurantium L.
Am I already your favorite tree?
