Event carbon footprint

Calculate the CO2 emissions of a corporate event — from attendees to catering — in a few minutes. A concrete figure to organise more responsibly and to offset, transparently, whatever remains.

What the Event estimate includes

Attendee travelOften the biggest item
Venue: energy and set-upConsumption and materials
Catering and materialsFood, drinks, printing
Overnight staysAccommodation for attendees

What it measures for an event

The calculator covers the items that make up an event's footprint: attendee travel, the venue's energy and set-up materials, catering and materials, overnight stays. At most events, attendee travel is by far the biggest item — especially when some people fly in.

Seeing this in advance changes your planning choices: a more accessible venue, incentives for shared transport, low-footprint catering.

How it works

Enter the number of attendees, where they're coming from and how, the duration, the venue and the services. Where you don't have the exact figure you can estimate: the calculator converts everything into CO2 equivalent using public emission factors (ISPRA, IPCC, Ecoinvent) and shows the result as a min–max range, with the main emission sources.

Why measure it

An event is also a communication moment: stating its emissions with a number — and what you did to reduce and offset them — is far more credible than a generic “green event”. More and more clients, sponsors and public bodies ask for it explicitly.

Reduce and offset

After the estimate you can act on the heaviest items and offset the residual emissions through zeroCO2's high-social-impact reforestation projects, with real communities and Plan Vivo certification. Offsetting doesn't replace reduction: it comes afterwards, for the emissions you can't avoid yet.

Frequently asked questions

What's usually the biggest item at an event?

In most cases it's attendee travel, especially flights. That's the first place to act: an accessible venue, shared transport, hybrid attendance.

What size of event is it suitable for?

It's designed for smaller corporate events. For large or complex events we recommend a dedicated programme, because an automated estimate risks being unreliable.

Can I offset the event's emissions?

Yes. From your results you can start offsetting through zeroCO2's reforestation projects. First, though, it pays to cut the heaviest items: offsetting is the final step, not the first.

The calculator's estimates are indicative and based on average sector emission factors from public sources (ISPRA, IPCC, Ecoinvent). They are not a substitute for an emissions inventory certified to ISO standards.
