The B Corp is a voluntary certification that assesses the overall social and environmental performance of a company against a series of strict standards.
The meaning of B Corp
- To obtain this certification you must complete a Business Impact Assessment (BIA), a document that assesses the company’s commitment in 5 areas: people, governance, community, environment, and customers;
- Once the B Corp certification has been obtained, one does not live off the land. Companies’ performance must be periodically reviewed to ensure that they continue to meet certain standards.

B Corp certification is issued by the US non-profit organisation B Lab. Companies seeking to obtain this certification must meet ambitious standards in the areas of environmental protection and social equity. For example, a B Corp company is committed to ensure a high quality working environment, transparent internal communication, important community support, reduction of waste and energy consumption, and a positive impact of its services on the lives of consumers.
The term B Corp is often mistakenly used as a synonym for benefit company, which however refers to the legal form of a company and not a certification. Not all benefit companies pursue the B Corp certification. Instead, it is mandatory for Italian B Corp certified companies to adopt the legal form of a benefit company in order to maintain it.

Certification Notice
“Certified B Corporation” is a trademark licensed by B Lab, a private non-profit organization, to companies like ours that have successfully completed the B Impact Assessment (“BIA”) and therefore meet the requirements set by B Lab for social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency.
It is specified that B Lab is not a conformity assessment body as defined by Regulation (EU) No 765/2008, nor is it a national, European, or international standardization body as per Regulation (EU) No 1025/2012. The criteria of the BIA are distinct and independent from the harmonized standards resulting from ISO norms or other standardization bodies, and they are not ratified by national or European public institutions
